Pimp Shay's Camel

I am getting more and more behind in keeping this website up to date, I hate to disappoint all my fans so I will try and do it a bit more regularly. A couple of weeks ago now 160 of us headed into the desert for Shay's birthday. This involved us jumping into 32 4WDs driven by a bunch of locals and dune bashing across the desert en route to the random camp site set up near the Saudi border and complete with these huge marquee tents, dance floor and DJ.

It was all so much fun, the dune bashing was definitely one of the highlights. There was also quad biking, sand boarding and swimming in the gulf with an awesome view of Saudi. Will definitely have to go again.

Hope you had an awesome birthday Shay!

Whopper, Copper... Poppa

Poor WCH (World Cup Hero) Tony Popovic, comes to Qatar to finish up his football career in peace believing no one will know who he is and a whole heap of Australians catch wind of it, form a fan club and turn up to every game with flags, banners, chants and musical instruments.

At the end of the first game he actually came over to say hello and gave Muzza his shirt (which he subsequently put on and stank the car out all the way home)

His games are on most Friday nights and it is great fun to go to. Makes for a small bit of normality in the sand, although the arabic supporters with their megaphones and wailing music are a little odd.

QOCBOC2006

QOCBOC2006 stands for Quarter of a Century Birthday Organising Committee 2006 which I put together to plan my good friend Michael's 25th birthday party. The theme was School Disco and it was just awesome the trouble everyone went to to dress up. About 150 people came and it was one of the best nights I have had since arriving. Hope you had a really really great night Big Dog... you are my favourite friend :)

All You Can Bahrain

A couple of weekends ago was our last opportunity until mid-December to leave the country. I decided to head to Bahrain for some Michael Jackson spotting. Didn't find Michael Jackson but did have a really awesome time. Didn't see much of Bahrain, the two photos below are really all I saw that was outside.

The weekend can be summed up with three all you can drinks and two all you can eats in a 24 hour period. Needless to say, I had a ball.
